It is way to easy to just blindly trust published papers. I often watch people online and hear “the science says” and like no one ever gets that wrong, misquotes or misunderstands or is corrupt when it comes to research.
There is a lot of pressure to publish in academia. So this is actually very understandable to find research that is questionable. There is nothing like finding what is expected and not check thoroughly. If you think about it, in school there isn’t much training on checking. Students are taught to give the work to the teachers and teachers how do they check their work? Let alone checking unique research?
This is an example of one way questionable research can get published.
